About this tool
OCR (optical character recognition) turns pictures of text into editable text. It saves retyping invoices, notes, quotes and ID details.
Most online OCR services upload your image to a server. Here, the open-source Tesseract engine runs inside your browser as WebAssembly, and the language data is cached after the first use.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is it?
Clear printed text in good light is usually recognised very well. Accuracy drops with blur, glare, unusual fonts, low resolution or handwriting.
Does it support Urdu Nastaliq?
The Urdu model works best on printed Naskh-style text. Nastaliq calligraphy, common in newspapers and books, is recognised less reliably.
Can I mix English and Arabic in one image?
Yes. Tick both languages. Selecting only the languages that appear gives the best results.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The OCR engine and language files are downloaded to your browser, and the image is processed on your device.
How do I get text from a PDF?
Convert the page with PDF to JPG first, then drop the image here.
